Broken Springs

Broken springs are one of the most common types of garage door damage and can affect the usability of your garage door. If one or more of your garage door springs are broken, it can be difficult or impossible to open or close the door. In some cases, the broken spring may even cause the door to fall off its track. Old springs tend to be susceptible to breaking and if it becomes a struggle to open your garage door then the springs are probably becoming worn and should be replaced.

Broken Cables

Broken cables are one of the most common causes of damage to garage doors. The cables are an integral part of the garage door as they play an important part in lifting and lowering it. When a cable breaks, while it still may be possible to open your garage door it will be heavy and dangerous.  If this is the case with our garage door check for frayed cables and get them replaced before the damage escalates and leads to more expensive repairs or even injury.

Misaligned Tracks

Bent tracks are another common issue. When a track is bent, it can cause the door to become misaligned and difficult to open. This can also lead to other problems, such as broken springs or cables. If you notice your garage door is not opening or closing properly, check if there is a gap between the rollers and the track, if this is the case get the problem resolved immediately.

Worn Rollers

When rollers become worn on your garage door, they can no longer effectively guide the door along the tracks, which can cause the door to become misaligned. This can lead to a number of problems, such as the door sticking or becoming difficult to open and close. In addition, a misaligned door can increase the risk of the door becoming damaged or falling off of the tracks altogether. If you notice that your garage door is not opening or closing as smoothly as it used to, or if you’re experiencing other problems related to alignment, it’s important to have the rollers replaced as soon as possible.

Electrical Issues

With the advent of remotely operated garage doors comes the problem of the electrics malfunctioning. If your electrically operated garage door will not open it can often be something as simple as needing a new battery in your remote. The first thing to do is check the batteries in both the remote and transmitter. Other issues with your electrics could include water damage, blown fuses or frayed wires. As soon as you notice any problems at all with your electrics get them checked out by a professional it could save you money further down the line.
